Job Description

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the tracking, managing and determining availability of Train & Engine employees. This position has responsibility for identifying and notifying Medical Management of potentially FMLA-qualifying events. Ensure coordination of employee status information into the appropriate software system. Work as liaison with Human Resources Department on policies and procedures to include FMLA and other federal or state legislation. The Workforce Services Manager works to continuously improve crew resources processes and ensure transportation support.

Job Duties:

  • Directs day-to-day management of Crew Resources positions and operations. –

  • Maintains the EWM (Enterprise Workforce Management) system and resolves any conflicts related to crew activities.

  • Provides daily data and reports to management regarding the availability of crews.

  • Responds to inquiries and requests from local labor organizations.

  • Identifies potential FMLA or other status events and notify appropriate departments.

  • Creates and submits status changes in the SAP system to ensure correct employee information for payroll and benefit processing for T&E employees.

  • Tracks, manages and determines availability of Train & Engine employees.

  • Gathers and processes information/data for morning reports for Company leadership.

  • Manages the call processes within Enterprise Workforce Management.

  • Communicates with crews that want to lay off for medical (and other) reasons.

  • Helps establish and document Standard Operating Processes.

  • Monitors and reports overtime for T&E employees.

  • Works to continuously improve the crew office processes and ensure transportation support.

  • Provides ad-hoc reporting and analysis and special projects or other duties as necessary.

  • Partners with IT to develop online forms and design system enhancements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma - General Studies - GED - General Studies;

  • 8 year(s) of relevant experience including; leading and managing projects or programs with outcome focused deliverables, crew dispatcher/crew management experience, and/or experience administering Collective Bargaining Agreements related to Train & Engine employees;

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3 years experience in with direct supervision;

  • KCSR crew management experience;

  • EWM or automated dispatching system experience;

  • Railroad transportation and/or logistics industry experience.
