Job Overview:

A Certified Pool Technician employee oversees the operation of the swimming pools. They maintain heaters, pumps, chlorination equipment and motors. They clean debris from pools and adjust water chemistry to maintain proper balances. They handle minor repairs for plumbing, electrical, poolside furniture, buildings and maintain building grounds.

To ensure success as a certified pool technician, you should have excellent knowledge of swimming pool equipment and maintenance, be able to work with hazardous chemicals, and interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner.

POOL SERVICE TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform regular pool cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Inspect and repair pool equipment such as pumps, filters, and heaters
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to pool systems
  • Utilize power tools and hand tools effectively
  • Conduct water quality tests and adjust chemical levels as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities
POOL SERVICE TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually having had a similar position for one to two years or associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship .
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Hold a Certified Pool Operator certificate.
  • Knowledge of the regulations regarding the State's Department of Health Public Pool and Bathing.
  • Skill in the use of equipment such as pool pumps, motors, pool heaters, walking and riding mowers, chain saws and a variety of powered and nonpowered hand tools.
  • The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee willfrequently lift light and heavy objects, use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color.
  • The work is performed outside, where the employee is exposed to noise, dirt, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals and inclement weather.
  • The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
