Job Description

An employer is seeking a Thermal Technician in the Northwest part of Houston, TX. This person will be joining the Notebook Architecture team and will be working closely with Thermal Engineers to help compare products against the competitors. The Thermal Technician will be working closely with the Thermal Engineers on their various projects, such as helping them rerun competitive testing in thermal chambers or evaluated competitive differences in fans. They will gather requirements to create test procedures, will be responsible for carrying out those tests, troubleshoot/debug any issues that arise, then communicate any issues back to the Thermal Engineers. Majority of their time (roughly 85%) will be spent testing and communicating with the engineers, but they will also be responsible for helping build up mock-up boards (thermal heaters and thermal modules) about 15% of the time.

Skills and Requirements

5-10 years in a Thermal Technician or Mechanical Technician role

Experience in a notebook, server or desktop industry (Dell, HP, HPE, etc)

Knowledge of infrared (IR) cameras and thermal computer acoustics.

Experience working with Agilent Data Logger equipment (DAQ)

Must be a self-starter, motivated, and willing to work independently

Microsoft Suite experience, especially Excel Prior thermal mock up testing experience

Knowledge of thermal impedance testing, air flow testing, system testing, and CFM (cubic feet per minutes) Testing null
